 Prompt Response: The most compelling issue and the debate between cancer, culture, and freedom of speech is where to draw the line between accountability and censorship. Cancel culture can hold people responsible for harmful words or actions, but it can also shut down open discussion by discouraging people from sharing different opinions. I find this very important because freedom of speech is a core right to every individual, yet it can conflict with the need to protect individuals and groups from harm. For example, research shows that public backlash on social media has led to people losing jobs or reputations quickly, sometimes without full context or due process. This issue matters because society has to balance protecting free expression while promoting respect and fairness.

Reflection: Reflecting on this, I believe there should be a delicate balance between freedom of speech and cancel culture. Both can foster healthy and moral discourse, but when one side becomes excessively dominant, the line between accountability and censorship blurs.

A homeless man was standing in the middle of the road, but not close enough to the cars to be hit. He approached every car that was near him with his sign in hand, begging for something, though I can’t recall what it was. He soon reached our vehicle and asked my father for something. My father immediately shooed away the man as if he were a stray dog, and the man went on his way. Summary: In today's class, we started a story titled: " The Life You Save May Be Your Own" by Flannery O'Connor. Reflection: Reflecting on that time, I did feel sorry for the homeless man. However, it’s important to remember that everything will eventually return to its rightful place.
