If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

Prompt Response:  If I were to compose a poem about the rest of my life, it would be centered around the theme of moving forward. There are numerous topics I could explore in this poem. However, I believe that sharing such a poem with the world is essential. I want everyone to be aware of and understand the importance of moving forward. This poem would not only serve as a personal reflection for me but also as a gift for those who need it the most. It would be a message that carries a deep sense of meaning and a treasure that everyone should cherish. Summary: In todays class, we went over some of the methods used to create a rhetorical analysis essay. Reflection: Reflecting on this, if I were to write a poem about moving forward, it would be a very lengthy piece that would hold all my most significant accomplishments and my most regrettable mistakes. However, throughout the poem, I would  emphasize the notion that regardless of the losses we endure or the victories we a...

When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

Prompt Response:  When I find myself in a mood I dislike, I simply close my eyes and go to sleep. Negative feelings don’t dissipate so easily, but I find myself becoming calmer when I rest. Over time, the feeling gradually fades, leaving me well-rested and calmer. I’ve used this strategy for a long time, and it has consistently helped me. While it may not be the most effective method for changing one’s mood, I find it to be very helpful and beneficial for the mind. Summary: In today's class, we completed two common lit assignments. Reflection: Reflecting on this, it is very easy for us as humans to hold grudges. But sometimes we need to take a step back, close our eyes and let the feelings slip away.

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

Prompt Response:  My personal approach to my creativity stems from my imagination. Every great idea that I've had that I've written down for myself to pursue in the future has only ever come from my imagination. I think about people's wants and needs and how this world can benefit from my creations. However, in a more practical setting like doing a group project, I first establish what the problem is, then I brainstorm ideas, make a prototype, collect data, fix any issues with the prototype, and then make another. This process has always been done with every engineering project. I've done such as making a motorized air transportation system, which is a project that I was most proud of. Summary: In today's class, we completed an assignment on writable. Reflection: Reflecting on this, every idea I’ve ever conceived stems from a connection between my heart and my mind. My purpose is to create ideas that serve as catalysts for positive change and contribute to a brigh...

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

Prompt Response: Among the rhetorical devices I find most effective, analogy stands out. While it’s true that analogies are often used to make heartfelt comparisons, their potential goes far beyond that. They can be employed in arguments, ideas, and even complex concepts that require significant time and thought. When used skillfully, analogies have the remarkable ability to engage both the heart and the mind, encouraging logical thinking while also tapping into emotional connections. Summary: In today’s class, we took a test on rhetorical devices. Reflection: Reflecting on this, the word “analogy” holds a special place in my vocabulary and rhetorical device preferences. The correct usage of this single word can either unite people or divide them.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

Prompt Response: The word “analogy” resonates deeply with me personally. I’ve used it frequently to express my identity and represent my values. Analogies connect complex concepts and ideas, making them more relatable. For instance, humans are like flowers; we grow, evolve, and are unique, just like each petal on a flower. This is one of the many ways we as humans can be described. Summary: In today’s class, we began and completed an assignment on two rhetorical devices. Reflection: When I use the word “analogy,” it’s usually in a heartfelt way. I love using analogies because they allow me to express both my emotions and my thoughts simultaneously, effectively conveying larger concepts and ideas that people can comprehend.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

Prompt Response: About a month ago, I recalled a time when I was incredibly angry and enraged by even the slightest disagreements. My anger was unjustified, and my feelings were equally unjustified. I would resort to punching any object that came to mind just to release my pent-up anger, but it was futile. Deep down, I knew that I shouldn’t be so angry, even in the face of a simple disagreement or a heated argument. That month was a period of profound self-reflection for me. Summary: In today’s class, we delved into Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech and analyzed its rhetorical devices. Reflection: Reflecting on this, it’s evident that it’s quite easy for us as individuals to harbor grudges. However, the anger that we feel towards one another can have devastating consequences for both parties involved.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

Prompt Response: My room is the place where I find the most peace. Although there are a few isolated parts that aren’t the cleanest, I haven’t had the time to clean them thoroughly. However, for the most part, my room is clean and well-organized. The reason I find the most peace in my room is because of the solitude and quietness it offers. I can listen to music and do my work without any loud distractions. Summary: In today’s class, we focused on an assignment, but we also learned about two new rhetorical devices. Reflection: Reflecting on this, I realize that I’m someone who greatly enjoys solitude and quiet. I’ve never been a fan of loud noises, but with my room, I never have to worry about that.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

Prompt Response: During a group project, we collectively voted on a specific idea that we would develop for our project. The ideas were creative, achievable, and could be completed within a reasonable timeframe. We all voted on a single person’s idea to develop, which was complex yet feasible. Unfortunately, during a three-day period, we could only rely on this person to provide us with information about their side of the development process. This constant feeling of having to depend on someone else for information or assistance is quite unfortunate, as I am someone who prefers to work independently and ensure that I have all the necessary information to complete a task. Summary: In today’s class, we continued an assignment where we analyzed the president’s speech for rhetorical devices. Reflection: Reflecting on this, we sometimes rely on others, but it’s not something that should be normalized. We should all be able to work independently without having to rely on others, especia...

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

Prompt Response:  High school and my life have taught me valuable life skills, including saving, cooking, and working independently. These skills are crucial for my success. However, I’m always striving to improve my knowledge and abilities. The most essential skill I’ve learned for finishing high school is discipline. Specifically, I’ve developed discipline in completing my work and studying for tests. I firmly believe that this skill alone will guide me through high school, college, and beyond. Summary: In today’s class, we began an assignment where we identified rhetorical devices used in a president’s speech. Reflection: Reflecting on this, I realize that discipline is the one skill I need to improve in myself, as I haven’t had much of it recently. However, I will make sure my actions align with my words.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

Prompt Response:   Nearly the entire winter break was dedicated to self-care, allowing me to unwind and recharge. However, one significant challenge that disrupted my peace of mind was the creation of a 3-D model that could either be shared with others or sold for profit. On Wednesday of the second week of winter break, I finally decided to embark on this project. Engineers, especially younger ones, often face the common dilemma of having a clear idea of what to create but lacking the necessary skills to bring it to life. This predicament, coupled with my limited 3-D modeling experience, left me feeling overwhelmed and unsure of how to proceed. Consequently, I made the difficult decision to take a break from personal 3-D modeling projects. While this decision has left me feeling disappointed, I am grateful that it wasn’t a school project. Summary: In today's lesson, we went over two more rhetorical devices and did small practice assignments for each one. Reflection: Reflecti...

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

Prompt Response:   In today's lesson, I learned so much information about rhetorical devices that my brain nearly exploded. The rhetorical devices that we went over in today's lesson were hyperbole understatement, and litotes. When our teacher started talking about it, I knew that this information would be a little important as this week went on. And I knew that using and understanding these rhetorical devices wasn't a small accomplishment. Overall, I believe that today's lesson went pretty well. Summary: In today's lesson, we reviewed over three specific rhetorical devices and did short practice assignments on each one. Reflection: Reflecting on today’s lesson, I’ve learned how to effectively use Hyperbole Understatement, and Litotes in literature. I’m interested to incorporate these rhetorical devices into my everyday speech.

In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt Response:   The first goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is eliminating the habit of procrastination.  This goal is important to me because as I get older, I want to be a respected individual and engineer.  To achieve this goal, I will set daily reminders of the things I have to accomplish, limit screen time, and stick to a set bedtime every week and weekend. I will achieve this goal fully by March 2026. The second goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is to own my very own car.  This goal is important to me because as a teenager, I should have a proper method of transportation not only for myself, but for my family. To achieve this goal, I will have my parents pay for and guide me through the steps of obtaining my learners permit to my licence. I will achieve this goal fully by October 2026. The third goal that I hope to achieve in 2026 is creating and operating a very profitable business.  This goal is important to me because I want to be importan...
