 Prompt Response: Growing up, neither of my parents were particularly strict when it came to discipline. However, they shared a common understanding of how my discipline should be handled. As I matured and became more self-aware, I became the strictest disciplinarian of myself. I convinced myself that I was incompetent and that my performance was inadequate. Eventually, my parents began to express concern that I was being too hard on myself.
