Prompt Response: In elementary school, I was friends with a person named Alex, and we always played soccer together at recess. One day, I got picked to be team captain, and many kids cheered for me. However, Alex felt jealous. Instead of continuing to play soccer with us, Alex ignored me and played with another group. I felt hurt and stopped inviting Alex to play during recess. And our friendship slowly faded, all because of his jealousy.

Summary: Due to today being a block day, there was no Literature class today.

Reflection: Reflecting on this story, jealousy can make us treat our friends and people in general unfairly. Small actions can hurt a relationship in big ways. And it’s better to celebrate each other’s successes than compete against them.

  Prompt Response:   My mother, father, and I were driving through Atlanta when we stopped at a red light at an intersection. A homeless man was standing in the middle of the road, but not close enough to the cars to be hit. He approached every car that was near him with his sign in hand, begging for something, though I can’t recall what it was. He soon reached our vehicle and asked my father for something. My father immediately shooed away the man as if he were a stray dog, and the man went on his way. Summary: In today's class, we started a story titled: " The Life You Save May Be Your Own" by Flannery O'Connor. Reflection: Reflecting on that time, I did feel sorry for the homeless man. However, it’s important to remember that everything will eventually return to its rightful place.

While this is a common rule in households, my parents took extra precautions to ensure my and their safety. Although some children disobeyed their parents and opened the door to strangers anyway, I never considered doing such a thing. In conclusion, it’s important to respect the rules set by adults, even if we don’t fully understand them at the time. Summary: In today's class, we started and continued a novel called The Rock Pile by James Baldwin. Reflection: Reflecting on this, there are many rules set in place for us by adults.
