In the poem, the speaker and his neighbor meet each year to repair a wall. Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?
Prompt Response: In the summer of 2024, I had an internship job funded by the mayor called Chess and Community. During this internship, I would be working on robotics, coding, and chess. It was an incredible experience, but there was one person in my group who I found to be untrustworthy. Despite being the same height, I was only 15 years old, while he was 20. One day, he called me and asked for money, even though I had only known him for three weeks. Naturally, I refused, and he stopped talking to me afterward. This experience taught me that there will always be someone who appears trustworthy but is actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Summary: Today in class, we did a commonlit assignment based around the poem, "Mending wall"
Reflection: In short this experience taught me that trust should be earned, not given freely. It reminded me to stay cautious and recognize that some people may hide bad intentions behind friendly appearances.
